Just before World War II broke out, the father of Lyle and Wilbur Muir bought the business from the original owners and turned it over to his sons. Heeding his patriotic duties, Wilber decided he would join the war effort causing him to leave the Central to his brother. Lyle Muir and his wife, Dolly later bought the business and ran the Central for 27 years before retireing. At which time they sold the business name but kept the actual building that the Central was located in.
During 1990 their daughter, Bev Smith bought the building from her mother and father and it has since remained in the Muir Family to this day.
The other half of the building that the Central occupies is split with Bombaii Cutters was which was originally once leased out as a barber shop to a man by the name of Les Stapleton which was appropriately named Les' Barber Shop. Located directly behind Les' Barber Shop was a seperate pool hall whic was also owned by the Muir family while they were simutaneously running the tavern. Today the pool hall space was purchased as an addition in 2005 to the Bombaii Hair Salon located nextdoor to the Central Club. |
